NINETEEN YEARS OF EXILE21.03.2010 18:41
It is strange. Since 1991 every musical publicist has been writing about Nirvana´s Nevermind only in superlatives: musical revolution, the most influential album in musical history, the last real ROCK album... and other bullshits. Every of these publicists has been closing his eyes and has been seeing no nonsences in the lyrics, no mistakes in singing or playing, no Wallace´s large sound modifications and designing. The sentence 'Nevermind was profoundly influential, that it 'changed rock overnight.' has been been sounding from everywhere...
THE MYTH ABOUT THE CHANGE OF MUSICAL CLIMATE AND ABOUT THE END OF CLASSIC ROCK HAS BEEN CREATED.
"For two decades, rock critics have swallowed the Michael Azerrad line that Nirvana 'swept away' the baby boomer, AOR generation, puncturing the cartoonish excesses of hair metal, just as the Sex Pistols slayed prog."
I THINK, THAT ALL THESE PUBLICISTS HAVE BEEN WRONG. WHERE ARE NIRVANA´S FOLLOWERS TODAY? ARE NEOPUNK AND GRUNGE SUPPORTED BY TV AND RADIO BROADCASTING, MAJOR LABELS AND MTV ALIVE??? I DO NOT THINK.
LOOK WHO´S TOURING RIGHT NOW:
Tyketto vocalist Danny Vaughn has revealed that the original band has reunited to begin work on a brand new album: "There is Tyketto news. And new Tyketto news at that! Under cover of darkness, surrounded by secret service agents who were sworn to take a bullet for any and all of us, Brooke, Michael and I got together a couple of weeks ago in Las Vegas. Not only did we have a great time, but we started writing together! These days it isn't possible for us to spend the amount of time together that we used to when it came to writing songs but I'm pleased to say that in a week's time, we came away with 8 new song ideas that we are all very pleased with. So, with that in mind and the future ahead, we are going to start working on a brand new Tyketto album!
“Lost in America” 2010: This one is pretty much NEW. It has the first two demos PLUS alternate earlier versions of rare songs. BUT the big bonus is the band has reformed hit the studio and tracked FOUR Classic Lynzee songs especially for this release!
Returning with their first studio album of all original music, TESLA wrote and recorded the album Into the Now, and for the first time, self produced the album along with audio engineer Michael Rosen (Testament, AFI, Santana). Released in March, 2004,
featuring Matthew and Gunnar Nelson (NELSON), Eric Martin (MR. BIG), Mark Slaughter (SLAUGHTER), Janet Gardner (ex-VIXEN) and Jimi Jamison (ex-SURVIVOR) have announced three live dates for the US.
Pat Fontaine and XYZThey have played everywhere from all the most poplular clubs in L.A. to touring with other big name acts all around the world and have sold over 2 million albums worldwide. Now all these years later, XYZ is still going strong and are about to embark on their 20 year reunion tour.
Twenty years after the release of the highly acclaimed Damnednation, JETBOY has completed work on their most recent project Off Your Rocker.Having been absent from the studio for some 20 years, Jetboy recorded Off Your Rocker’ in a fully organic mode. The band played all in the same room together in a “live-style” format in an effort to duplicate the way the songs were written, all together, in a true 1970’s fashion where the band could feed off of one another’s energy. No longer bound to the constraints of a major label like MCA records has afforded the band the freedom to make music their own way.
On Sunday February 21st, GEORGE LYNCH (LYNCH MOB, SOULS OF WE, ex-DOKKEN) was interviewed on-air by WSCA 106.1 FM's Turn It Up host Jim Alvino. Topics discussed included the new albums by Souls Of We and Lynch Mob, songwriting, recording with other artists, and the live shows that Lynch Mob was the opener for Dokken. The discussion of songwriting led Lynch to reveal that he has been writing songs for a new Dokken album with the classic 1980s lineup. To dig deeper into how this came together, Alvino asked if the live shows prompted this reunion.
Now the band will return with 4/5 of the original line up in tact. Lead singer Drew Hannah, lead guitarist Brent Woods, bassist Marc Simon and drummer Jimmy D will be playing some of their classic tracks like "Hang On Lucy", "Hair of the Dog", "How Many Lies" & "Clock Strikes 12".
"It is with great excitement that Cinderella announces the band's return to the concert road in 2010!!! The band has been in heavy rehearsal the past two months and has never sounded better... or Tom Keifer's voice stronger! Look for dates, and a tour, to be announced very, very shortly!" - Tim Heyne, Cinderella Management. CINDERELLA's new album Live At The Mohegan Sun is out now via Frontiers Records. Featuring the all original line-up of Tom Keifer (vocals, guitar), Eric Brittingham (bass), Jeff LaBar (guitar) and Fred Coury (drums), the show was recorded during the VH1 sponsored Rock Never Stops package tour, which Cinderella headlined, supported by RATT, QUIET RIOT and FIREHOUSE.
We tried to get Brian West our original bass player of London but at this time is not in the books unfortunately. We are currently rehearsing for our live show coming up on Ja-30th-2010 at a venue called “Angels RoadHouse” in the Inland Empire. We are really looking forward to it since we will be playing with Krigger for the first time in 20 years or so. We will be having an array of London tunes from all three albums. The set will be about 90 minutes of classic London tunes. Two drummers, our D’Priest drummer “Diablo” and our London original drummer Krigger and beautiful Hot! Dancers will be there too. We are doing the same show as we did back in 1989 but with a bit more color and larger Sound J. The lineup will be as follows; Sean Lewis (L Guitar), Krigger (Drums), Billy “The Fist” (Bass) and myself Nadir D’Priest… Our D’Priest lineup is the same except that Bruce aka/“Diablo” will play on half the set on this show.
After the bands demise in the late 80’s, with Carmine joining BLUE MURDER, Mick Sweda to BULLET BOYS and Johnny Rod to W.A.S.P., the band is now back with the original classic '85 lineup with the addition of vocalist Paul Shortino (ROUGH CUTT, QUIET RIOT) to replace Mark Free (now Marcie Free). A new album is touted for release in 2010 with touring to coincide.
According to their Myspace page, Dirty Looks have reformed and have released a new album, "Gasoline" in 2007. Two more studio albums have been released since including "Superdeluxe" and "California Free Ride". Both albums were released in 2008.
One of heavy metal's leading ladies, Lita Ford, has returned. As a member of The Runaways, and then as a successful solo artist, Lita was one of the few females able to thrive in the male dominated metal scene of the 80s.
the band that gave you “The Right To Rock” – will unleash their brand new album “Streets Of Rock & Roll” ” on January 29th 2010 in Europe and February 9th in the USA on Frontiers Records. The new recording contains twelve new rock anthems in the tradition of KEEL’s classic “The Final Frontier,” “KEEL,” and “Lay Down The Law” albums: commercial Hard Rock featuring the twin-guitar attack of Marc Ferrari and Bryan Jay, drummer Dwain Miller and bassist Geno Arce’s rock solid groove, Ron Keel’s powerful vocals, and a collection of songs which the band feels is their best ever.“We are not re-inventing our style – “Streets Of Rock & Roll” is a perfect follow-up to our previous albums,” says Ron Keel presenting the new album.
Tony Kelly: I put up a MySpace page as a tribute to the band and suddenly it became popular again by rock fans all over the world who liked our music and 80s image. We were approached by SunCity Records to release it. I retained the rights to the masters so I thought why not? We released it and it became very popular and began the initial comeback of the band.
original members, drummer David Huff and bassist Mike Brignardello, who wanted to go back to Rock, started an endless research for the right musicians that could be part of a renewed Giant line-up. And in the end the choice fell on singer extraordinaire Terry Brock (Strangeways, Seventh Key) and on John Roth (Winger) on guitars. David Huff comments: "Yes, we have decided to move forward. But we're not trying to replace Dann, because that could never be done. We have picked up where we left off and have added a great new flavor. We will always stay close to the original core of what Giant was: a melodic arena rock band based around guitar riffs.
Live Report: I was definately excited to see them, but I have to say that their performance exceeded all of my expectactions. They put on an AMAZING show...Jack Russell's vocals were spot on and Mark Kendall proved that he should be in with the best guitarists of that era. Hands down. They had good energy and really got the crowd into it! Now like I said, I'm not going to be able to remember the set list in the exact order, but they opened with "Call It Rock N' Roll" and then went on to play songs like; "Face the Day", "On Your Knees", "Old Rose Motel", "Save Your Love", "Rock Me", "Can't Shake It", "Rollin' Stoned" and a couple songs from their new album, "Rising" as well; "Situation" and "All or Nothin".

One of the most underrated voices in rock, David Reece, made his return this year with the release of his very first solo album entitled, "Universal Language". You might remember him from his time with bands like Accept and Bangalore Choir back in the day and on this new release, his voice is just as powerful as ever!

Dan Wexler and John Aquilino reformed Icon last year and since we've always been good friends (all the way back to high school here in Arizona) I said I'd help out as a bass player while they were getting things back together. The chemistry was great and we just decided to keep on playing...
Right now the Nelson's are hard at work in the studio working on the new album. Gunnar Nelson reports: "After many years of mutual admiration, Matthew and I are proud to announce our new partnership with our friends at Frontiers. We're thrilled at the opportunity for a renewed vitality for Nelson. We eagerly anticipate an unstoppable connection between the songs we work so hard on and the fans of classic melodic hard rock that we make our music for. While trends have come and gone, Frontiers has stayed the course and supported a loyal fanbase all over the world. Matthew and I have taken great pride in doing the same. It's this shared passion for great rock and roll…spearheaded by great songs…presented in a timeless fashion…that's assured Matthew and I that Frontiers will be where our future hits find a perfect home.

What can I say about it?
I am waiting for a publicist – hero.
- for brave and courageous “hero” with real straight-out aspiration to write “objective” without respect to medias´ and major labels´ needs. - for a hero who will disclose, that grunge is dead, but eighties rock and metal are still alive.
COULD IT BE MR. LUKE LEWIS FROM N.M.E. ???
