BEGINNIGS: One of the world's greatest Boogie Woogie pianists for your entertainment pleasure! Mr. Boogie Woogie (aka) Eric-Jan Overbeek was born on April 5, 1967 in Nieuw Vennep, the Netherlands. Mesmerized by that old piano in the living room, Eric-Jan began studying classical piano at the age of eight. He demonstrated early an extraordinary talent for musical arrangement and got his first job at age twelve playing piano as an accompanist for dance classes. After listening to a Rolling Stones record he bought his first guitar, joined several high school bands but also played in church with two youth choirs.

CAREER: During his 30 year carreer he has opened the stage for international giants of blues like Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Johnny Copeland, Van Morrison, Koko Taylor, Magic Slim and the Teardrops and even The Blues Brothers Band. In 2010 Mr.Boogie Woogie and his band opened the 35th edition of the world famous North Sea Jazzfestival. By 1994 Overbeek had started his own Boogie & Blues Night Festival in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. The festival features international rhythm and blues artists such as Sam Taylor, Little Willie Littlefield, Bruce Katz as well as Dutch phenomenons Rob Hoeke and Rob Agerbeek. 

RECORDINGS: On his own Firesweep Records label Mr.Boogie Woogie has recorded 12 CD’s, 1 DVD, 2 EP’s and 2 CD singles and toured internationally in the United States, Canada, England, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Poland and Corsica.

-/-Overbeek has made several visits to Tucson over the last few years and is a touring machine when he comes to Arizona. "Last March, I think I played 24 times in 30 days," said Overbeek in a phone interview. "One year, I came here four different times," he recalled. "That was too much." (2008). 

-/- Eric-Jan Overbeek  has been awarded the prestigious honor of being named Best Dutch Blues Pianist 2010 by the Dutch Blues Foundation, after being voted Best European Blues Pianist in 2005 by the Trophees France Blues (april 2011).

-/- As part of its series of Concerts in the garden, the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux presents MR. BOOGIEWOOGIE on Friday July 20th at7:30 p.m. in the garden of the Dollard-des-Ormeaux civic center, 12001 de Salaberry boulevard, DDO.  On tour in Quebec, he has teamed up with local musicians to present an unparalleled repertoire of blues (2012).
